Marin Golden Threads

A Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America

San Rafael, CA

Our purpose is to learn about and practice the art of all forms of needlework. We invite you to be a guest at a meeting to learn more about EGA and our chapter.

Calendar       Education

Our chapter meets monthly at 10AM on the 4th Saturday of the month at the Valley Baptist Church located at 3 N. San Pedro Road in San Rafael, Ca. (Enter on Sequoia Road)

Visit our Calendar for specific dates and educational program offerings.

Our next meeting is on February 25 where we will learn Kumihimo, or the Japanese art of braiding. Kumihimo has been documented back to 500 B.C. It’s amazing how such an easy technique turns out such elegant results! And the rhythm of the braiding has a tranquil meditative quality to it that is hard to resist. Our very own Liesbeth is an expert in kumihimo and has taught numerous classes. Whether you are interested in making bead-braided fashion jewelry or a custom braided edge to finish your latest needlework pillow, join us as Liesbeth shows us the ropes or cords, as the case may be. Our project will be a small key chain or bracelet. Beware: One taste of kumihimo and you may become addicted!

Supplies: A kit will be provided with an estimated cost of $12 to $15. Bring your scissors.
