Marin Golden Threads offers one workshop a year. Workshops differ from programs in that they last longer than a program project. Generally, they are full day, if not full weekend projects.
2009 Workshop
"One Hundred Flowers" by Gay Ann Rogers
GayAnn Rogers is allowing MGT to do her "One Hundred Flowers" canvas. GayAnn will not be teaching the class, however, she will forward me the canvas, threads and instructions to complete the canvas. Below is a picture of the piece. Following is a description of the piece:
Proficiency Level: Advanced Intermediate Ground Fabric: Congress cloth Size: Ground Size: 14"x16" Design Size: 10.5"x12" A Hundred Flowers incorporates spots of at least a hundred abstract and representational flowers based on the poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay, "I will be the gladest thing under the sun/I will touch a hundred flowers and not pick one."
The techniques in A Hundred Flowers include a variety of traditional needlepoint and surface stitches and composites, as well as drawn thread and cutwork techniques. The threads in A Hundred Flowers are varied and include Soie D'Alger, overdyed silk by Thread Gatherer, Medici wool, Elegance by Rainbow Gallery, Kreinik braid, floss and pearl cotton. The ground fabric is white Congress cloth.
Kit includes: Instruction booklet, color copy and all threads necessary to complete the project. I will be ordering the kits at the end of January. The price per person is $145.00. I must have the money by January 31st or your kit will not be ordered. I will be at the January MGT meeting if you wish to give me a check at that time. The kits will arrive by February 28th. Beginning in April I will be glad to lead stitchins to help people with any questions/problems or if you just want to get together and stitch. Please make the check out to Kathryn Beebe as I will be forwarding her a check to pay for all kits!
